The governing bodies of the Institute are:
- the Board of Directors
- the President
- the Scientific Council
- the Board of Auditors
Their composition and powers are defined by the “Statute” and the “Regulations on the Organisation and Functioning of the Governing Bodies”.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the body responsible for the Institute’s strategic, planning, administrative, and managerial activities. Together with the Scientific Council, it establishes the guiding principles for scientific activities. The Board of Directors appoints, from among its members, the President of the Institute and a Vice President, who replaces the President in the event of their absence or incapacity. It may also appoint an Executive Committee and two board members with delegated authority for coordinating and supervising the activities of the Research and Administration departments.

The President
Paolo De Nardis is the President of the “S. Pio V” Institute of Political Studies. Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Sapienza University of Rome, he is the author of numerous publications in the fields of sociological theory, the relationship between social sciences, socialist thought, and political participation. He has served as Dean of the Faculty of Sociology at Sapienza University of Rome, Director of the Department of Sociology, member of the National University Council, and President of the Committee for Public and Social Sciences. A former city councillor in Rome (1993–1997) and delegate of the Mayor for University Affairs, he was also co-founder of the Advanced School of the Ministry of the Interior.
The Scientific Council
The Scientific Council is composed of five members appointed by the Board of Directors from among distinguished figures and scholars in the fields relevant to the Institute’s interests. The current Council is composed of the following members:
